Once upon a time, the dwellers of a small village were terrified by the menace of a Dragon that lived nearby. Everyone in that land was in great distress. The King told the people they could have all his gold and silver and half of his kingdom if his daughter is saved, the people refused. This is how Natalia Malii starts off her retelling of the Saint George Legend. It is about a terrifying Dragon that lived near a village. Every day he demanded the sacrifice of a beautiful maiden and one day the Princess was chosen. As the Princess was sadly proceeding to her doom, along came the knight George on a white horse who bravely fought the Dragon to rescue the Princess.

Saint George and the Dragon are the main characters of the story, the knight a shining example of courage, hope, honour, fortitude, bravery for championing the people and defending the Christian faith, and the huge beast is symbolic of paganism and evil passions. The legend and classic story is given new life in this new picture book by Natalia Malii and it is well-illustrated by Ala Malii, the author's sister. It is a bilingual book, the English narrative being followed by the Spanish one, as the author encourages bilingualism. The Saint George Legend is a well-known one. What Natalia Malii does is to distinguish her work for Spanish speakers to appreciate.

The stories about Dragons arouse an interest in children, Natalia Malii decided to retell the Saint George Legend and adapt it in the easiest and simplest way for them to understand it better. A bilingual version of this legend is ideal for children growing up in a foreign country or within a multilingual family, or just as an additional teaching aid to expand their horizons and knowledge. This volume is a very good introduction to one of the world's well-loved stories about warrior saints. In retelling the legend of St. George, Natalia Malii has accomplished an important task for rounding out the education of the current crop of youthful readers with an adventure story from the Christian faith.
