In her new poetry collection, "Lighthouse: Faith, Hope and Love" (published by Trafford Publishing), author Rosemary Delconte Grogan tells the reader that one is never too old to follow their dreams, if they believe in themselves.
Grogan started writing poems when her husband was diagnosed with cancer. This medium of expression helped her cope with the helplessness of the situation. Each poem represents a time in their lives when they were united in their failing battle against cancer. Writing helped the author release her pent up emotions of fear, anxiety and insecurity of the future.
Grogan has written this book with the hope that it will help others in similar situations. She would like to reach out to families who are battling cancer. Having lived through it, Grogan wants to tell readers about her husband's struggle to fight cancer and the way they lived a day at a time.
In one of her poems, Grogan writes about smiling and tells the reader that a smile does not cost much. Smiling makes the ordeal bearable. "Believing in God" is another inspiring poem and it makes us feel better knowing that there is someone other than our family and friends who is watching over us.
This book is aptly titled "Lighthouse." Like a lighthouse, Grogan hopes to help navigate families who are battling with cancer. She speaks of the hurt and pain of never seeing one's loved one again. But she deals with the pain with courage, faith and a smile on her face. The reader will come away being inspired to smile and face whatever life has to offer.
