Rose Lavis chronicles her journey from darkness and suffering into a world filled with light, laughter and love in her autobiography, "Rose's World" (published by iUniverse).

"'Rose's World' is my life story," Lavis explains. "My childhood included physical, mental and sexual abuse and living in children's shelters and skid row hotel rooms. The words 'you're useless, no good for nothing, no one wants you, no one will ever want you' were ingrained in my soul before the age of five."

Born the second of five children to a mentally ill mother and a violent, alcoholic father, Lavis' childhood was filled with trauma, abuse and uncertainty. After spending years moving from one children's shelter to the next, she found an inner strength and resolved to rise above her circumstances.

Lavis shares. "The hole in my soul I carried from childhood took me fifty years to fill." As Rose's life unfolds and rebuilds she discovers new possibilities, a new spirituality and a new self, ultimately taking control of her tomorrows. "Life is what you make it," Lavis tells readers. "Life is what you choose it to be. I choose to make my life magnificent. You are what you think you are. You are who you think you are."
