TAYLORSVILLE, Utah
After seeing a lack of participation by pastors, pastoral staff and local congregation in providing support and counseling to those overcome by sin, author Ron Pleune decided to write his new faith-based book, "The Ministry of Restoration" (published by CrossBooks).
"My inspiration also grew out of two other factors that I observed," Pleune says. "Those who enter the pastorate and have little, if any, practical experience in divorce counseling, drug, porn and alcohol abuse and the GLBT agenda. And the lack of training in the Church to be able to understand that they can disagree with the sin of others but still support the sinful person in various ways."
Pleune's new book explores what it means to be overtaken by sin and considers who is responsible for restoring sinners back to their faith. It addresses techniques in counseling, offers suggestions on how to handle different types of sin, forgiveness and shame and provides guidance for taking the steps to move past sin and forward in life.
