Author Roger Conlon returns to the world of fiction literature to share a story about the need to challenge the cosy acceptance of fighting unnecessary wars when countries and states can invest in future generations by making the right choices about how they spend their money now. "The Wishing Well" (published by AuthorHouse UK) follows the battle between the citizen and the all powerful mechanism of the state, industry and government and their tendency to fight wars rather than push for social reconstruction.

The story is about a campaign by three British dissidents to expose the corruption and links with organised crime in this work of fiction. As the story progresses, it becomes clear that the rules of integrity and honesty are being sacrificed on the altar of the profit motive and the drive to attain corporate dominance. The climax of this tale leads readers to conclude that they can live in a nicer world if they can defeat drug trafficking and people smuggling, the profits of which can end up in any company or bank in the world.

"In this fictional story I have tried to redress the balance towards the ordinary man or woman in the street," Conlon says. "Who will triumph? Read on."

It is an engaging story as it puts the powerless citizen against the might of the rich establishment. While the citizens are looking to create a more peaceful and equitable world, the priorities of industry and government might not be the same; in the end, there can be only one winner. "The Wishing Well" is a communicative fictional work that entertains and at the same time makes readers ponder on thoughts concerning matters of state.
