The topic of business in politics is abuzz amid this year's presidential election: from a candidate who receives large payouts from big businesses and another who is an international businessman taking his first dive into the political arena.

In "The Pfurst Family Diaries," author Richard Soares narrates a humorous, satirical look at U.S. citizens and at those with power and wealth who exploit business and governmental institutions for personal gain.

In the novel, the Pfurst family attempts to restore American efficiency by capturing the White House and merging the country's military, industrial and political might into one giant TeraCorp with a Supreme Executive Officer (SEXO) at the helm.

"In many ways, SEXO Phillip Pfurst is similar to Donald Trump," Soares said. "He believes the world would be a lot better off if just one person were running it."

Through his book, Soares hopes to encourage readers to snap out of their apathy towards business-ran governments and become more intellectually involved in the affairs of the state.

"The American public needs to wake up and stop blaming the government for its problems, when they are the ones who made the government," Soares said.
