About the Author

Reem Hijjawi was born in Nablus of the West Bank in Palestine in 1961 and grew up in Kuwait. She gained her degree in Industrial Engineering in the USA before working for the family business. She published her first stories in Arabic magazines and newspapers Al Qabas of Kuwait, Al Rai of Jordan, and Sayidaty of Saudi Arabia. When the Gulf War broke out in 1990, she moved with her ex-husband to Jordan, where she published her first collection of short stories entitled That Man. In 1996, she founded the Reem Hijjawi Health Center for Children. She lived six years in Cyprus. She moved to Long Beach California in 2010 where she took a course in poetry with the prominent poet Gerald Locklin. His influence on her was huge and fundamental to the point that she quit writing short stories as she was taken by poetry.
