"Being nominated for a Voice Arts Award was cool enough. When I heard them announce my name as the winner I was jerked out of my daydream for a cheesesteak and heard my voice over the sound system with [Recorded Books director of marketing] Patrick Deering telling me, 'You won! Go up and get your award!'" said Thérèse Plummer, winner and narrator of Hope Harbor by Irene Hannon. "All I thought at that moment was how lucky I am to tell stories for a living. Thank you, Recorded Books, and thank you, Irene Hannon, for asking me to tell your story."

Created by the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences as part of the That's Voiceover! Conference, the Voice Arts Awards is an international competition showcasing the best work in professional voiceover acting, creative direction and communications for advertising, audiobook narration, movie trailers, video gaming, animation, television, radio and casting realms.

"Recorded Books won an award in six out of the 10 categories for which we received nominations. To be honored in this way is a true testament to the talent of our narrators and the diversity our family of companies brings to the audiobook industry," said Troy Juliar, Recorded Books' chief content officer. "Congratulations to all the 2016 Voice Arts Awards winners and nominees."

Recorded Books, Inc., Tantor Media, HighBridge Audio, and christianaudio received a total of 26 nominations for the 2016 Voice Arts Awards. Recorded Books, founded in 1979, acquired both Tantor Media and HighBridge Audio in 2014 and christianaudio in 2016.
