Robyn Roper's "Rottnest Reflections" (published by Xlibris AU) takes readers to an historical island escape within a 30-minute ferry ride, off the coast of Fremantle, Western Australia. With her photographic journal, she taps into the psyche of the island and its people, conveying the special meaning Rottnest has for her, revealing scenes during the winter months. It was the rains that gave Roper a renewed sense of wonder that inspired her reflections.

Roper takes her readers on a journey of discovery. It shows them some of their favorite spots while letting those new to Rottnest become familiar with the vast sense of space it provides. They will see the distinct lighthouses, the bays and inlets, and the many beaches and coves waiting to be discovered. The unique wildlife inhabitants include quokkas, migratory birds from around the globe, sea lions and fur seals, just to name a few.

Roper suggests, "The aim of this book is to challenge you, the reader, into identifying which part of the island the photo was taken!" The author further explains: "The ability for personal reflection plays an important role in our sense of self and wellbeing. Our relationship with people and places anchor us in this world of dreams and solitude." The book is a shared pictorial, poetic memoir of friends, family and traditions that the island provides.
