R.D. Amundson Announces Release of Western - THE RIDER

Quentin Tarantino's recent acclaimed movie, "Django Unchained," has sparked renewed interest in the Western genre. In R.D. Amundson's latest novel, "The Rider" (published by iUniverse), readers travel back to the old west where a Confederate army captain embarks on an adventure to reclaim himself.

"I wanted to write a Western," Amundson says, "a genre I would be sad to see die out. So I started with the simple title, and then the book spun off into fantasy, which was a lot more fun."

Set mostly in the town of Witchita, the book centers on Confederate army captain, Virgil John Jordan. Though a dedicated and brave soldier, Virgil loses everything one day when news of his wife and six-month-old child's murder reach him. Both have been slaughtered by a gang of marauding Union soldiers. Overwhelmed by grief and vengeance, Virgil leaves behind the man he once was and becomes the Rider, a killer with his own brand of justice.

A powerful blizzard blows the Rider into Witchita where he meets the fiery Pistol Ann and the witch of Witchita, Mesmerala. The Rider's skill and bloodlust might be exactly what the town needs, but will it be enough to satisfy the Rider?

Packed with action and adventure, "The Rider" invites readers to saddle up for a thrilling ride over the prairies with a man out for nothing but vengeance.
