A visit from an unforgettable relative – "the last of her generation" – provides some challenges for a family of five and their animal companions. A lively dachshund, mischievious cat and their human siblings and parents star in a new book by Kathleen Chamberlin released by Dog Ear Publishing.
"Marcy Mary's Memoirs: A Dachshund Princess Shows the Way" serves as a follow-up story to "Marcy Mary" The Memoirs of a Dachshund American Princess: The Early Years." This latest tale features the misadventures that take place during a visit from Aunt Bertha, a demanding older relative who pushes everyone's buttons. She's unhappy with the animals who live there, especially Marcy Mary, who didn't do the first prank but is blamed for it. A nerve-wracking car ride is one of several unpleasant things that happens.
But sometimes circumstances can change, and that's what happens in this charming tale. Quick-thinking Marcy Mary is able to save the day when something unexpected takes place, and everything starts to head in a positive direction. Prayer – and a touch of fate – bring former companions together in an unforgettable reunion.
Retired public health nurse Kathleen Chamberlin has written many professional articles and material but has long wanted to write something more creative. Chamberlin, who has lived with dachshunds for many years, also wrote the book "Marcy Mary: The Memoirs of a Dachshund American Princess: The Early Years." She and her husband, John, live in Newbury Park, CA, with Archie, a rescued piebald dachshund.
Artist Stella M. Violano created the portrait of Marcy Mary on the book's cover and that introduce each chapter. A portion of sales of the book will be donated to the Ventura County Humane Society, which has rescued many of God's creatures of all sizes.
