Through pain and struggle, we are sometimes brought to a careful evaluation of our lives. That said, we strive to gain wisdom, hope and meaning from the experience.

"Quiet Sheba," a new novel from author Elizabeth Clayton, is a collection of poems that explore stages of grief, solitude, doubt, awareness of beauty and marvel of the cognitive. Based on Clayton's personal experiences, her book encourages readers to seek a deeper truth in their lives and live in the present moment.

"The novel depicts a difficult period in my life," Clayton said. "But through darkness, the poems reflect the growth and joy I have experienced from overcoming life's difficulties."

At 24 years old, Clayton was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Since then, she has written 13 books, which have been primarily poetry. Her unique voice and artistic expression help showcase the colorful verses in Quiet Sheba.
