WASHINGTON, May 4, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer Jon Meacham will discuss his latest book, The Soul of America: The Battle for Our Better Angels at a National Press Club Headliners Book & Breakfast Event on Wednesday, June 20 at 8:00 a.m. in the club's Fourth Estate Room.
While it may feel like the level of discord and division in America today is rising to unprecedented heights, The Soul of America reminds the reader that we have been here many times before as a nation (the Civil War and Reconstruction, the backlash against immigrants in the First World War, McCarthyism in the 1950's, etc.) and that at each turning point in our relatively short history the path forward was paved with hope and optimism, rather than false nostalgia and fear.
Breakfast will be served in the club's Fourth Estate Room at 8:00 a.m., with remarks beginning at 8:30 a.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 9:30 a.m. Meacham will sign copies of his book after the program concludes. Tickets are $25 for Press Club members (Club members may purchase two tickets at this price) and $39 for the general public. When purchasing tickets for this event online, buyers will also have the option of purchasing copies of the book at check-out. To purchase tickets and copies of the book, please click here.
Books will also be available for purchase at the event. Proceeds from book sales will benefit the non-profit affiliate of the Club, the National Press Club Journalism Institute, so we kindly ask that you leave all outside books and memorabilia at home.
For all ticketing-related questions, please email reservations@press.org. Tickets must be paid for at the time of purchase.
