Book Expo America (BEA) was held from Wednesday, May 28th through Saturday, May 31st at the Javits Center in New York City. The BEA Bloggers Conference was held on Wednesday for book bloggers, authors and other industry professionals to network and inspire each other in the world of book blogging.

PODG team members, VP of International Operations Kait Neese and Communications Director Shaina Wizov attended this conference to learn more about engaging and interacting with the industry through the company's blog.

The full BEA exhibit opened on Thursday. BEA brought together authors and industry professionals to see and learn everything about this ever changing and always challenging business. The largest gathering of booksellers, librarians, retailers and professionals in North America, BEA is home to the largest selection of English language titles. This is the number one event to discover new titles and authors, be exposed to the latest trends in technology, and participate in education programs aimed to increase professional growth in the industry.

BEA is an environment made for networking and relationship building in the North American publishing industry. Over 500 authors and 2,000 exhibitors attended, as well as four Author Insight Stages, an autographing area and the Digital Discovery Zone. Participants were able to learn about industry trends during focus sessions, participate in special events to get acquainted with the book business, and conduct rights business at the largest North American International Rights & Business Center.

PODG were stationed in the International Rights Center, where CEO Robert Fletcher, along with Ms. Neese and Ms. Wizov, met with authors, publishing companies, and distribution channels to discuss possible partnerships for global distribution and rights.

The final day of the event was open to the public, welcoming book fans from all over the world to discover new and upcoming titles, meet authors, attend discussion groups and special events, and overall have an enjoyable experience surrounded by others who share a passion for books. It was during this time that PODG got the opportunity to spend quality time with some of their own authors, giving them a tour of the show floor and explain the ins and outs of a book fair of this scale. Later that afternoon, PODG hosted a happy hour event at a nearby restaurant to celebrate another successful year at BEA alongside many authors and industry professionals equally as enthralled with BEA.
