As an octogenarian, Prof. Anthony S. Travis has a world of experiences and stories to share. His life was made even more colorful by his time spent traveling and working in many different countries around the world. In his memoir, My Life in Travel: Letters To My Three Grandsons, Prof. Travis retraces the journey and the meaningful lessons that brought him to his current state of happiness and contentment.
Prof. Travis's life as a student was marked not only by learning but also constant travel. With wartime schooling in New Zealand, post World War 2 education in Wales and, later, university in England's smog-bound Manchester, he had already traveled 14,000 miles by his 14th birthday.
In his honest and compelling life story, he talks about his adventures as a schoolboy moving across continents and his career in consultancy which brought him to diverse places like Bulgaria, Slovenia, Poland, Maldives and the Algerian Sahara. He also shares his immersion in unique cultures and how he was able to establish what he calls a "global village of friends".
"(My Life In Travel) is a review of my life, made up of stories of the people and events who have shaped it," Prof. Travis says.
Filled with exquisitely nuanced insights on life and living, My Life In Travel is at once the author's meaningful adventure around the world and a triumphant testament of friendship and resilience.
