Poet Vidya Gargote introduces 100 ways to elevate your mood with "MUTE: Poems That Saved My Life!," a collection of meditations and poems that guides readers to a higher state of consciousness by reconnecting them with their innermost self.

Gargote wrote "MUTE: Poems That Saved My Life!" during a time in her life when she became depressed in the wake of working long hours and parenting a newborn. She used creative writing and journal therapy as a tool to return to her true self, reaching her goal of happiness and emerging with the vision of helping others in this universe through her story.

"Although this book came out of a low time, it's not a book about depression," Gargote explained. "I want my journey to be a guide to anyone who wants to better their life. Use my staircase of meditations to elevate your happiness, and then add your own stairs to the summit."

Gargote's verses of exultation combat the notion that we cannot alter our own state of being and demonstrate practical steps to elevate one's mood and combat depression and seasonal affective disorder with simple, small actions.
