Playscripts, Inc. is launching Pitch 'N' Play, a Twitter sourced playwriting competition. Anyone following Playscripts on Twitter has the opportunity to pitch their idea for a short play.
'Pitchers' are being asked to draw inspiration from this Shakespeare quote, "The course of true love never did run smooth," chosen to celebrate Valentines Day with a humorous twist.
After the pitching phase, the Playscripts Literary team will select 30 semi-finalist pitches; the online community will then select 10 finalists. Of the 10 finalists, Playscripts will select 3 winners. Playwrights will then have two months to write a one-act play based on one of the three pitches.
Sarah Bernstein, Playscripts, Inc. Literary Manager, expressed her excitement, "At Playscripts, we're always looking for ways to engage more directly with our playwrights and customers, and to use available technology to expand the possibilities for the creation and distribution of new work. As the Pitch 'N' Play Contest does all of those things, we're tremendously excited to see what it yields."
Playscripts, Inc. is an independent publisher of new plays and musicals, established in 1998 by brothers and playwrights Doug and Jonathan Rand for the mutual benefit of playwrights and theaters worldwide.
