Photography Duo MARKUS + INDRANI to Donate Sales from Prints Toward Sandy Recovery Efforts

Today, world-renowned celebrity photography duo, MARKUS + INDRANI announced they will be supporting New York Says Thank You Foundation (NYSTY), a non-profit organization founded to commemorate the love and ongoing support given to New Yorkers by Americans following 9/11. MARKUS + INDRANI, will be supporting NYSTY's Hurricane Sandy First Responder Rebuilding Fund through sales of their exhibition prints. The iconic images will be on display during their December 11th, 2012 ICONS Exhibition & Book launch event at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall as well as available for public viewing on December 12th and 13th at the David Rubenstein Atrium. 

"We are touched and honored that Markus and Indrani have extended their support to help rebuild homes of under-insured, active first responders of New York," said Jeff Parness, Founder and Chairman of New York Says Thank You Foundation. "We believe that the overall New York community will benefit from NYSTY helping those that take care of everyone else and the artists' commitment to generate awareness and further support our proposition is invaluable."

New York Says Thank You Foundation has a proven 9-year track record in national disaster relief rebuilding from the California wildfires to Hurricane Katrina to tornado rebuilding efforts through the Midwest. Since its founding in 2003, the foundation has received support and contributions from renowned philanthropists such as Jonathan Tisch, Laurie Tisch, Bill Rudin and corporations as KPMG and its core group of volunteers have been New York City first responders and residents who were affected by 9/11. 10% of the sales of MARKUS + INDRANI's photography art will go to NYSTY. 100% of that donation will go directly to Hurricane Sandy rebuilding efforts here in the New York area.

"We have collaborated with many dynamic personalities who were born, raised and have continued to love this city through all its hardships and challenges. We hope to support and perhaps capture the resilience and beauty of the very people who make New York so iconic."

The ICONS red carpet event opens the two-day public exhibition at the David Rubenstein Atrium that features their most iconic images printed and mounted on 4 x 7 ft frames that will be available for pre-sale at the event. The 30-piece exhibition include: Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Kanye West, David Bowie, Iman, Will Smith, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Eva Mendes amongst others. Ten percent of proceeds from print sales during the event will go to NYSTY.

In addition to the celebration and public exhibit, Markus and Indrani will host a symposium for young people in partnership with Lincoln Center, focused on inspiring creativity through art, film and music. The public event will be held at the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center in 2013.

The ICONS event is also being sponsored by iconic luxury Swiss watch brand, Girard-Perregaux. The gala will host Lincoln Center supporters , leaders in the fashion, film production and entertainment industry, national and international media and VIP guests and members of Girard-Perregaux.

Described as "Two of photography's biggest talents" by American Photo, the former classical harpist and top model, have spent nearly two decades producing iconic images of the most provocative celebrities of our day. On November 13th, the glamorous duo will be launching their first ever photography book, ICONS, on a global scale - a breathtaking compilation of the most iconic, celebrated images of pop culture legends by Markus + Indrani. Published by Running Press, A Member of the Perseus Books Group. Their award-winning photography has appeared on best-selling album covers, in ad campaigns for Pepsi, Nike, L'Oreal Paris, Lancôme, and DeBeers, on the covers and pages of Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and The New York Times, and in over 20 exhibitions worldwide.
