SAND SPRINGS, Okla.
Cora Braun knows all too well the struggles of being a single mother. With her husband and father of her children killed during the D-Day invasion, she was left working two jobs and in charge of their four children. With her body constantly strained and nobody to lean on, she counted on one thing, and one thing only, for strength: God.
Author Philip D. Smith invites readers to experience Cora and her children's emotional story in his new novel, "Then Sings My Soul" (published by WestBow Press), which follows Cora and her oldest son, Josh, on a spiritual journey.
Cora's oldest son, Josh, drops out of school to work on the railroad in order to help his family. While he takes pride in his work, he has far more pride in his role as manager and player for a semi-pro baseball team. Despite his mother's concerns, Josh is driven to take his baseball skills to the next level - the major leagues.
Throughout "Then Sings My Soul," readers watch as Josh struggles to make his dreams come true while Cora struggles to keep her kids in church and under God's guidance.
