Philip A. Stahl Offers New Theories of Belief and 'Being' in BEYOND ATHEISM, BEYOND GOD

In his new book "Beyond Atheism, Beyond God: The Quest for Transcendent Being" (published by iUniverse), author Philip A. Stahl argues for the discarding of outmoded concept of "God" as a personal religious concept.

"Beyond Atheism, Beyond God," Stahl says, "takes a novel look at the relationship between humanity and Being, which includes physical-material components, as well as what might be called "spiritual."

"The great diversity of conceptions of God led me to conclude that what people really meant when they professed 'belief in God' was a personal allegiance to a particular concept. Invariably, the concept was flawed and limited because it was abstracted from a personal background of awareness and conditioning, as opposed to a total comprehension of actual Being. In other words, the lack of understanding of the underlying entity (assuming there is one to understand) rendered all concepts relative. There is simply insufficient information to distinguish one person's deity as the one true God to the exclusion of all others."

"Our society today is very much scientifically based," Stahl says, "but also interested in intangibles, such as 'spirituality.' This book adopts a scientific approach to such intangibles as they pertain to Being."
