Specific Language Impairment (SLI) is diagnosed when a child has delayed or disordered language development. Usually the first indication of SLI is that the child is later than usual in starting to speak and subsequently is delayed in putting words together to form sentences. The author Dominic Dimatinna was diagnosed with such a condition in his youth and yet has succeeded to live a normal and successful life. "Persistence and Purpose" is his story.

This book is the author's memoirs on his life and his many experiences coping with his disability. This book is written in order to educate the public about language impairment and to give strength and hope to those who are afflicted by it. The book includes the author's own perception on his disability and a compilation of interviews documented by the author's speech pathologists. These interviews gave new insights and ideas to help others, and the speech pathologists used them to create more resources for parents and teachers working and living with people with a language learning disability.

"Persistence and Purpose" is a remarkable book specifically designed to help those with specific language impairment and also to give strength to the families and people who support them.

About the Author
Dominic Dimattina is a trailblazer for people with specific language impairment. Dominic's early language development was very delayed; he had poor comprehension and very limited spoken language in comparison to his peers when he started school. Despite this, his skills in other practical areas were within normal range; he was very sociable and could concentrate well on a range of tasks. Dominic is now in his early thirties and his story is an inspiration to all kids who suffer the same condition.
