TRENTON, Ontario
After harboring the guilt and responsibility of a 25-year-old cold case, ex-detective-turned-coroner Roy Burtman revisits the crime when a body connected to the murder mysteriously surfaces.
In the new mystery novel "Sin & Penitence" (published by AuthorHouse) by author Percy A. Kinney, Coroner Burtman must overcome his past demons to bring the case to a close.
Through Coroner Burtman's story, readers will learn the differences between the two entities most often responsible for unnatural death investigations - the police and the coroner's office. The book touches on the psychological baggage that can weigh down an investigator, especially when working on cases with dead ends.
"'Sin & Penitence' is not your average homicide story," Kinney says. "The killer is found and convicted. The body was eventually found. The only mystery is tying up all the loose ends, or so it seems. The story has a lot of technical information and a twist or two near the end."
Kinney hopes to leave his readers wanting more after the cover closes, so they will begin to use their own curiosity to look deeper into real-life situations that may not truly be as they appear.
