In the new children's novel by David H Worsdale, "Pedro And The Magic Marbles" (published by iUniverse), a young boy's father gives him small rocks from the local mine, which, when opened, contain marbles. It is later discovered that these marbles hold magical powers.

Pedro lives in the village of Marbleville where his father works in the local marble mine. The mine owner allows each miner with children to take home two rocks they have mined that day. The rocks, when opened, may or may not contain a marble. Pedro has been lucky in that the rocks his father brings home usually contain marbles with brightly colored stripes in them.

The finding of these "special marbles", as Pedro calls them, coincides with the arrival of his grandparents on their annual holiday visit. When Pedro shows his grandmother his collection of marbles, she decides it is time to open some envelopes entrusted to her many years prior by the mother of the present mine owner.

Upon reading the letters, and following the instructions contained in them, Pedro and his family embark on some amazing journeys back in time. With the powers contained in the marbles they are able to help and rescue many villagers who mysteriously vanished many years ago.
