Paul N. Frenkel Releases Memoir, LIFE RECLAIMED

Author Paul. N. Frenkel tells a story of endurance, courage and hope in his new memoir, "Life Reclaimed: Rural Transylvania, Nazi Camps, and the American Dream" (published by iUniverse).

In April 1944, just two months before the D-day bombing at Normandy, Frenkel was a 14-year-old living happily with his family in the rural Transylvanian town of Hadad, Hungary. Suddenly, without explanation or justification, the family was rounded up with other Hungarian Jews, confined in a factory yard and then herded into cattle cars and shipped off to Auschwitz.

"Life Reclaimed" chronicles Frenkel's self-described "idyllic childhood," his survival in four Nazi camps as a teenager, the loss of his parents and most of his other family, his daring escape from the Berga-Elster Camp and his ultimate success in America. Candid and revelatory, his story is a shining example of one man's triumph over tragedy and his relentless pursuit of the American Dream.

About the Author
Paul N. Frenkel immigrated to the United States in 1949 and became an American citizen in 1953. He graduated from Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, Pa. He ran his own company, which built and operated food processing plants for the U.S. military worldwide. Frenkel lives in Connecticut with his wife, Rita. He has two grown children.
