Most societies rely on a police force to keep them safe and bring villains to justice. Paul Durston's new crime novel "In the View of a Constable" (published by Trafford Publishing) follows a psychologically damaged police officer, begging the question, "Who watches the watchmen?"

Richie always wanted to be a police officer. With a traumatizing childhood behind him, he hoped to make the streets safer for those in his town.

When bodies start turning up all over town, Richie begins to question whether or not he and the force are doing an ample job.

After experiencing a traumatic event, Richie begins to realize that he may have more serious psychological damage than he once believed. As the body count grows by the day, Richie finds himself working a case that he may have more involvement in than he wants to know.

An excerpt from "In the View of a Constable":

"I stopped and sat back, a strange cold feeling was pushing up through me. I hadn't bought any Shostakovich. The only one I had was the one Marilyn had given me. So, who's been in here? It wasn't Marilyn. She would never have been able to get in. No one could have got in - not without leaving a trail. I got up and looked around the entire flat, examining the door and all the windows. There were no signs of forced entry."
