Patrick Power's new novel, "The Package" (published by Trafford Publishing), tackles the issue of drugs and gang violence in Ireland in a story about a man who will go to any lengths to protect his family.

Peter Shields, a self-made millionaire, saw the error of his teenage years and made good. But when his only daughter, Charley, and two grandchildren, Kath and Peter, are put at risk when Charley reports a drug baron to the police, Peter must resort to his old ways to save his family.

Peter is not sure what he is up against, though. The drug barons have never been taken on before. The risks are great, but he cannot leave Charley to face this ordeal on her own. He must take on the drug gangs.

An excerpt from "The Package":

I could see the blood seeping through my fingers. I'm getting very nervous now, I'm beginning to wonder how much blood I will lose before I die!!
