"Every person is a potential healer who can learn a spiritual practice that is grounded in love," explains author Francis Geddes. In his book, "Contemplative Healing: The Congregation as Healing Community" (published by iUniverse), which is getting a new marketing push in 2013, Geddes describes healing prayer's importance and recommends congregations renew this ancient Christian practice.

"Jesus introduced healing into the community of his followers as a transformative spiritual ministry in his day," Geddes shares. "Today it has become clear that modern science and prayer for healing need not be at odds."

While many books on healing describe one-on-one healing, "Contemplative Healing" additionally describes how the congregation can become a healing community that supports and practices healing in various forms.

"I want the reader to become aware that all of us are potential healers in the same way that all of us are potential pianists. All we need to do is take lessons from a teacher and practice regularly."

"Contemplative Healing" was featured at the AARP National Spring Event in Las Vegas and will be included in the upcoming Miami Book Fair.

The Miami Book Fair will occur November 17 - 24, 2013, on the campus of Miami Dade College.
