TUCSON, Ariz.

Sometimes it takes hitting rock bottom to begin to climb back from negativity and the sense of feeling trapped by circumstances and behavior. Pamela Sayers Werner shares her experience on the road to redemption through a new collection of poetry inspired by her re-commitment to Jesus Christ. Her flowing words show believers how they can gain the power of living life as an overcomer and unleash the power of the Holy Spirit to be true Christian warriors drawing on their God-given gifts and faith.

In her introduction to "Timeless Truth: Inspirational Poetry for Life's Journey," Werner writes that in a low period of her life, she heard a message from God that shook her to the core: Instead of blaming her for her faults, He simply wanted her to let Him love her. As she grew in her love of the Lord, she began to recite a meaningful prayer she calls "The Truth Prayer:" "Father, please reveal to me the truth about my life, help me to accept it, and show me what to do with it." That prayer continues to transform her life. She turned to inspirational poetry as a way to channel her feelings and new outlook on life, facing the truth of her actions and giving God her pain. She was surprised to find she received only love in return.

She writes that opening her heart to His truth led her to discover what she calls Freedom's Formula, a solution to life's troubles that contains four simple but profound aspects: knowing God (getting to know Him through reading the Bible and praying), loving God (living in a way that pleases Him and recognizing the sacrifice He made for the world), trusting God (having confidence to trust in all things working together through His plan) and obeying God (obeying because of faith and love, even when it's painful or scary, and recognizing the need for a Savior).

Her poems, ordered in sections such as love, trust, live, seek, hope, fight, joy and share, speak to all aspects of a life lived in faith. In the poem "Satisfaction" Werner writes about searching in the right place: "Allow Him to fill the empty places deep inside, and find soul satisfaction and abundant life. Experiences, things and people can't fulfill us, if we continue down this road we'll only find strife." Her poem "Celebrate" offers a joyful glimpse of the wonder of God's love: "He's our Refuge when we are pursued, He's our Shield when we are exposed, He's our Lord when life is spinning, as He holds us with arms enclosed."

Author Pamela Sayers Werner says God's grace in her life serves as her inspiration to write poetry. Werner, raised in Jackson, Mich., moved to Tucson when she was in high school. She has written, sung and used her imagination since she was small, although she drifted from Christ when personal struggles arose later in life. She is blessed to have found her way back. Werner has two sons, Josh and Jacob.
