Studies show that engaged parents have more academically and socially successful children. However, many parents struggle with what engagement looks like and where to start.
Former teacher and caretaker Connie Prince answers these questions with her new book, "Parents' Dashboard Book."
Designed to improve family communication, "Parent's Dashboard Book" provides a list of questions that promote healthy relationships between parents and children while encouraging learning.
"My book goes deeper than the traditional, 'what did you do in school today?' questions parents routinely ask," Prince said. "It provides a variety of thought-provoking questions for families to discuss that encourage conversation."
Roughly the size of a pocket book, "Parents' Dashboard Book" is portable and easily fits into a small bag or glove compartment. Prince recognizes that families are busy and "family time" often comes between errands and meetings.
"The book helps busy parents to multi-task with ease," Prince said. "When time is crunched they simply need to open the book and ask a question. Parents remain in the loop of what their children are doing, while the child remains accountable and knows they're important."
