One World for Life Adds Fourth-Generation Firefighter to Board of Directors Image One World for Life (https://oneworldforlife.org) appointed new board director, Mark W. Lamplugh Jr., who brings a wealth of experience about the health, welfare, and safety of firefighters to the board. Lamplugh was formerly a captain with the Lower Chichester, PA Fire Company and is the former CEO for 360 Wellness Inc. (http://www.360wellness.org/).

Currently, Lamplugh is Vice President of Frontline Responder Services (https://www.frontlinerehab.com)a treatment program for first responders dealing with job-related stress, PTSD, and addictions. Lamplugh put together highly-experienced teams of credentialed clinical professionals for Frontline Responder Services at Advanced Health & Education in New Jersey (https://www.advhealth.com/) and Cedar Point Recovery in Sacramento, CA, (https://cedarpointrecovery.com/) which are divisions of Sprout Health Group (http://www.sprouthealthgroup.com). Upon accepting his appointment to the board, Lamplugh responded, "I appreciate former congressman Weldon's faith in me, and I'm honored to be serving with this cutting-edge organization. I'm eager to use my expertise to educate and inform global authorities such as NATO and the United Nations about the health and welfare of first responders. I also look forward to working with the board on plans to develop the first international conference about issues related to first responders."

Lamplugh explains the need for first responder health and well-being stating, "A recent study of the International Association of Firefighters (http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2016/08/16/firefighters-rates-of-ptsd-similar-to-combat-veterans/) showed that firefighters acquire PTSD at twice the rate of combat veterans. There's also a camaraderie among firefighters where they are more comfortable sharing traumatic experiences with other first responders." He promotes mental health and addiction treatment as offered by clinicians at Frontline Responder Services who are either active or retired first-responders with first-person experience managing job-related stress and trauma. As an active advocate, Lamplugh has helped hundreds of firefighters, police officers, veterans, EMS personnel, and civilians to find help for addiction, alcoholism, PTSD, and mental health support, nationally. Lamplugh is nationally recognized in Crisis Stress Intervention through the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress (http://www.aaets.org/index.htm). To further advocate for the health and well-being of first responders, Lamplugh also hosts his own talk show called "Firefighter Wellness Radio" with Fire Engineering.

Former congressman Curt Weldon founded One World for Life as a global extension of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus (https://www.cfsi.org/legislation-advocacy/congressional-fire-services-caucus), a bipartisan caucus that has become one of the largest caucuses in Congress. The caucus actively vets and addresses issues that affect the one million firefighters in 32,000 departments across the nation. Weldon states, "The addition of Mark Lamplugh to the Board of Directors of One World for Life provides an international voice focusing on the health and wellness issues affecting the 25 million first responders worldwide." He adds, "I have known Mark Lamplugh and his family for most of my life. I have seen first-hand Mark and his family respond to every imaginable type of emergency incident - and they have always represented the best that America has to offer."

Weldon founded One World for Life because he recognized that the best way to change the paradigm of a disaster was for the world's first responders to work together to share their knowledge and expertise to predict and prevent disasters. Weldon believes that the group's collective efforts will save lives, protect property, and actively address pandemics, as he describes in his recently authored book, Awakening the Sleeping Giant (https://www.amazon.com/Awakening-Sleeping-Giant-Political-Empowerment/dp/0998076139/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1513311757&sr=1-2&keywords=awakening+the+sleeping+giant). Weldon will be donating all proceeds from his book to One World for Life.

On Lamplugh's board appointment, Weldon states, "Mark Lamplugh represents the future of the American fire and EMS. Mark has opened the door to aggressive discussion of the health and personal well-being of America's premier first responders." Lamplugh's leadership on the board of One World for Life will expand awareness and treatment of PTSD and addictions for first responders globally.
