San Diego author C. L. Hoang receives new recognition for his debut novel "Once Upon a Mulberry Field," a love story during the Vietnam War published in February 2014.
The 22nd Annual Self-Published Book Awards, hosted by Writer's Digest Magazine, awarded "Once Upon a Mulberry Field" by C. L. Hoang an Honorable Mention in the Genre Fiction category. This competition, co-sponsored by Book Marketing Works, LLC and Meryl L. Moss Media Relations Inc., spotlights today's self-published works and honors self-published authors.
Set at Bien-Hoa Air Force Base near Saigon in 1967, the height of the Vietnam War and the Tet Offensive, as well as decades afterwards, "Once Upon a Mulberry Field" follows one man's journey of self-discovery, fraught with disillusionment and despair but ultimately redeemed by the power of love.
Prior to receiving an Honorable Mention in the Writer's Digest 22nd Annual Self-Published Book Awards, "Once Upon a Mulberry Field" had also been awarded the Gold Medal for Historical Literature Fiction in the 2014 Global Ebook Awards and the Fiction Grand Prize in the 2014 LuckyCinda Book Contest.
The book is available in paperback and eBook formats at amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, through CreateSpace expanded distribution channels, and on most online eBook stores.
