Research reveals that one in five people in Australia suffer with Depression. Not all are diagnosed and suffer in silence, and not knowing where to go for help. These are the people who suffer from feelings of despair, misery and guilt. It is crucial that the message gets out there that help is available, and reading On the Battle Field of Depression by author Jennifer Hume would be a good start.

In free-verse poetry fashion, On the Battle Field of Depression traces the author's journey with depression, and its stages from feeling blue, to the depths of darkness, then to a more positive mood. Though not cured, she is now able to recognize the road blocks to wellness. This book unravels an accurate account of Hume's battle with this insidious illness, which summarizes the rise and fall of depression and tracks the author's recurring mental illness, through the struggles in the dark, to finding light that brightens a world where the mental illness millstone is momentarily lifted.

In On the Battle Field of Depression, the author has written poetic pieces that offer strength and courage to those who have mental health issues to keep going on their own journey toward wellness. It may help them make it through the trenches of depression and live a life of purpose and meaning.
