Author Nora Aharonian takes readers through her specific family history while speaking about familial relationships in general - hoping to create harmony in the family - in her new book, "The Song of My Heart" (published by Balboa Press).

Commemorating the centennial of the Armenian genocide, Aharonian starts her book in 1915, depicting her parents' torturous lives. Despite living through that terrible holocaust, Aharonian says they never lost their ability to establish and maintain sincere family values, noble jobs, generosity toward friends and family, and sentimental appreciation for life.

"The Song of My Heart" is split into four parts. The first part details Aharonian's parents' unique sophistication, modest thoughts and timely wisdom; it describes their life experiences and the stories they used to educate their daughter. Part two explains Armenian family traditions and beliefs as a culture in the United States, specifically addressing the characters of Armenian family members and their relationships. Part three is Aharonian's heartfelt farewell to her parents, as she describes their lives in the U.S. and their final days together. Part four Aharonian dedicates to her daughter. She expounds on the importance of learning from rich and meaningful experiences but even more so from failures which she says become life lessons.

By illustrating her parents' challenges, Aharonian explains to her daughter that she can overcome anything. Aharonian hopes to be a true example to her daughter, just as her parents were for her.
