About the Author
Nicholas Hastings lives in Melbourne, Australia. In 1983, he lived in the Dandenong Ranges close to where the Ash Wednesday bush fires occurred. In 2009, he lived in the Yarra Valley, close to the Black Saturday fires. He and his family were not personally involved in the fire tragedies. His awareness of, and concern for, the many conflicting issues of lifestyle and fire safety inspired him to write A Tree Too Far. The title reflects the famous World War 2 episode immortalized as A Bridge Too Far.
