Bruce is an expert criminal psychologist that suffers from severe disability. His personal assistant, Sophie, has made it her life to serve him faithfully in all of his endeavors. As readers begin the story, they see that Bruce's private life is anything but ordinary - he is addicted to drugs and booze.
When a potential serial killer slips by the police, Bruce must gather his wits to find this elusive killer. Soon, Bruce and Sophie are entangled in a witch hunt which could cost them their lives. Can Bruce convince the police to ignore his extracurricular activities and find the killer before it's too late?

"The journalist recognises Bruce as she is the chief crime reporter for the newspaper. The journalist switches her attention to Bruce, 'Dr. Noble are you involved in this case?' Bruce sees the dictaphone forced in front of him and can't help but focus on the photographer who is taking pictures. 'Yeah, I am helping the police on a potential serial killer case and Mrs. White's son is the latest victim in my opinion,' he says as Dave drags him back. Dave whispers in his ear, 'Are you sure you should be talking to these guys without the police's permission?' Bruce cannot help himself and wants the publicity and continues as the journalist is surprised at the term serial killer. 'What do you mean serial killer? Is this not the only death which is questionable?' the journalist asks as Mrs. White looks surprised. 'The police are investigating three deaths which are suspicious, but I cannot comment any further... you need to speak to the person in charge who is DCI Connor,' Bruce says before nodding to Tommy to get him into the taxi. Mrs. White has already left for her car to avoid the journalist's questions due to the fact that she feels embarrassed that she had contacted the press potentially prematurely."

Nicholas Almond has cerebral palsy. Despite this, he managed to complete a doctorate in cognitive neuropsychology. This book required him to dictate every single word to numerous personal assistants over a long period of time. The research was based on both scientific analysis and personal events. Almond has published a number of scientific psychology articles but has only just ventured into fiction. The psychology behind murderers and serial killing has always interested Almond, and his hope is that this interest and insight will come through in his books.
