In her new novel, "Walking Away From Texas" (published by iUniverse), debut author Sharon Bradley delivers a tried-and-true teen romance that sparkles with young romance.

In "Walking Away From Texas" readers meet Katie Mitchell and Alan Thomas, best friends since kindergarten. Over the years they have gotten each other through the tough times. Now seniors in high school, they have a lot on their plate to deal with. Katie has just about had it with life in Texas and dreams of moving to California, but must consider staying in Texas for college. Alan has his sights set on playing football at Florida State, but is shocked to learn that his family will end up moving with him. In the midst of it all, Katie discovers that she has feelings for Alan. Will Katie work up the nerve to tell Alan how she feels? Can their friendship survive the challenges that lie ahead for them?

The depth of Bradley's novel is apparent in the story's relatable characters and its spine-tingling descriptions of blossoming love - all of which were inspired by Bradley's own youthful experiences.

"I became friends with one of my classmates in seventh grade and when our senior year rolled around that's when I realized that I liked him more than a friend," she remembers. "Things didn't end up working out for us, but dancing with him unexpectedly at homecoming and innocently holding hands with him at a high school football game were a couple of my sweetest memories."

Readers with an appetite for romance are likely to enjoy Katie and Alan's tentative steps towards love in his satisfying young adult novel.
