New 'The Cat in the Hat - Read & Learn' App is Released

Oceanhouse Media, Inc., together with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, L.P., today unveiled "The Cat in the Hat - Read & Learn," the first in a new line of animated, interactive book apps developed exclusively for iOS devices. The app designed for early and active readers (ages 3 and older) is now available on the App Store? for $4.99.

"The Cat in the Hat - Read & Learn" edition is a new stand-alone app replacing the original "The Cat in the Hat" digital book app first released in 2010. "Read & Learn" apps offer a new way to experience Dr. Seuss's children's books in a newly designed immersive interactive reading experience. Kids and parents can enjoy text and character animations, uncover hidden surprises, and complete learning activities such as matching words with sounds (b for ball) that encourage children to connect with concepts that are important for early literacy development.

Parents, kids and education experts collaborated with the development team at Oceanhouse Media to bring the beloved "The Cat in the Hat" story to life. Gesture based interactions like tapping, tilting, dragging and swiping move the story forward and reveal learning activities. The optional activities are hidden throughout the book, prompting readers to fully explore the story and practice spelling, phonics, rhyming, and reading comprehension in fun and playful ways. The "Read & Learn" apps also feature updates to Oceanhouse Media's signature text scaffolding features, including enhanced tappable words and picture and word highlighting.
