Author Shoshana Avni tells the story of a woman in her 70s looking back at her evolving attitudes toward sex and romance and the experiences that shaped her over the course of six decades in her new romance novel, "The Many Shades of Light" (published by Partridge Singapore).
"The Many Shades of Light" stretches a span of more than 60 years in the life of Sarah as she takes a stroll down memory lane and recalls the past, eventually detailing her present-day experiences.
Young Sarah is dazzling, intelligent and sassy. Older Sarah is intriguing and wise. They both know the meaning of fully loving someone and being loved themselves. They are both sensual and enjoy sex, and the book chronicles Sarah's relationship with two different men, comparing and contrasting the dynamic between each couple and exploring Sarah's perspective on sex and romance as a young woman and in her later years.
"I think many men and women, old and young, don't believe in their right to love and be loved; to have sexual fantasies and to realize them at any age," Avni says. "I want to tell them in this story, that it is OK to feel and be erotically stimulated."
