Romance novels are predominately written by female authors, but Chris Haigh is set to show that male authors can produce quality romance fiction, too. His new novel, "London Red" (published by Lulu), is a love story full of hidden secrets that challenge the protagonists.
"It's more than a traditional love story," Haigh says. "It's written in a modern fast-paced style with a more complicated plot that gets the reader to react to issues such as sex abuse, abortion and party drugs. The initial draft version on the internet had over 600,000 hits."
Paul Williams is ambitious, talented and wealthy, but he fears any committed romance. Katie Fels is a beautiful but emotionally wounded woman looking for love that will last a lifetime. As Paul grows to love Katie more and more, it becomes increasingly difficult for him to stay away from what he fears most - a lasting relationship.
An excerpt from "London Red":
"Paul could feel it, sense it. Like a living thing. The excitement grew, tightening his stomach into a knot. It was almost painful. The computer monitor held the image, an image he had developed and worked on for a year. Now it was there. The face stared out at Paul, a hologram of a girl ... the replica of her face, neck, and shoulders ... but changed into a hologram."
