Rev. John S. Mahon helps readers carve out a special time to talk personally and honestly with God in his new prayer guide, "Lord, Teach Us to Pray: How to Have a Daily Quiet Time Alone with God" (published by WestBow Press).

Written for busy Christians around the world, "Lord, Teach Us to Pray" outlines the six essential disciplines of prayer - adoration, confession, thanksgiving, intercession, supplication and spiritual warfare - and guides readers as they put each of the six disciplines into practice. Mahon's goal is to make talking to God a part of one's daily routine.

Mahon's workbook helps readers better communicate what is in their hearts directly to God and encourages them to meet with God every day. He hopes his book will help individuals and Bible study groups learn to develop their own prayer journals.

"What sets this book apart is its hands-on approach to prayer and emphasis on the use of Scripture," Mahon says. "Each chapter in the workbook concludes with specific projects designed to assist the reader in immediately applying the truths learned by spending daily time alone with God and developing a personalized prayer notebook."
