Commencing in Atlanta and developing into a worldwide journey, the plot leads the principal characters from Atlanta to Edinburgh, Tokyo, New York, Lucerne, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Toronto, Chicago, London and finally Washington, D.C. The novel tells the story of Bruce Wallace, Warren Hudson and Ian Mac Donald, three executives and friends, who meet up at a financial conference.
During a break at the conference, two Japanese dignitaries are found dead. It is then that Warren, who, as a desire to have the three of them sit next to each other, secretly switched Ian and Bruce’s nametags with those of the men that died, suspects that they must have been the real targets. While they try to figure out what happened, the police begin their investigation. The outcome is anyone’s guess.
Inspired by negative current events, Christie hopes to convey to readers that “love and justice transcends all.”
