Author Robert "Bob" Williams relays observations from a 50-year engineering career in his new collection of short stories and poems, "My Journey" (published by AuthorHouse).
"The poems and short stories are as varied in theme as they are in location," Williams says. "For example, one story takes place in the forests of Alabama; another takes place at my office in Montego Bay, Jamaica; yet another takes place on the construction site of a 22-mile-long water pipeline."
"My Journey" is told in freestyle poems and short stories that reflect the author's experience as he worked as an engineering consultant and manager in Jamaica, the U.K. and the U.S. over a period of 50 years. The book is not about engineering, but about people, events and circumstances observed and experienced as Williams navigated his way through various places throughout his career.
An excerpt from "My Journey":
"I guess that is how we ended up spending a week-end at the wildlife park in Tampa. Then, my flair for photography in general and sunsets in particular drove us to a weekend in Key West where sunsets are simply spectacular. Hell, spending so much time with her, the forest of females fades as she shines, an oasis of sunshine lighting this slippery slope."
