Joseph and Annette Peterson share colorful poetry that paints the emotional story of their family's journey through love, the loss of a child, grief and restoration in their evocative new collection, "Just One Little Seed: A Poetry Collection and Story About Grief, Hope and Restoration" (published by WestBow Press).
"This book was borne out of the heart of a dad grieving the loss of his oldest daughter," the Petersons write. "Diagnosed with cancer at just 8 years old, God welcome a unique and vibrant 9 year old, Malia Grace, into heaven on Dec. 7, 2010." In the months following Malia's passing, Joseph wrote poetry to express his grief, renew his faith and find peace.
Interspersed with full-color photographs, "Just One Little Seed" presents dozens of poems in just over 100 pages. Joseph's simplistic, free-flowing poetic style reveals glimpses of the profound truths he encountered on this life journey. "Ultimately, it is the story of God's great love for each of us, and his rescuing of us from the deep places of darkness life often holds."
The poem "Though In Two Places," featured below in excerpt:
"Heaven or earth
we miss her very much
can't be together
but our hearts still do touch
Though in two places
what we love the most
being held by sweet Jesus
we're eternally close"
