Each poem is an attempt to cause the reader's mind to create an image of the island and evoke a sense of being on the island. To enhance the haikus, Vorderer includes photographs and gives each poem its own page. In addition, the other poems are an exercise in reaching into the reader's soul and creating a deeper understanding of the human condition within them.
Vorderer hopes to instill in the reader "the sense of tranquility the Island gives one who visits it and hopefully the reader can develop this tranquility in their daily lives."
