"Grandchildren are the dots that connect the lines from generation to generation," the late advertising executive, author and columnist Lois Wyse once said. For author Marj June Gibbins, it was her grandson that connected the dots which not only strengthened their family relationship but also led her to become a published author with the first book of her children's book series entitled "Adventures of Willem and Booey: Book 1: Melbourne Holiday."

The colorful picture book's storylines were initiated by Gibbins' grandson who has an amazing set of toy friends, and an imagination that put forth lots of stories suitable for children's books. Hence, the idea to put pen to paper was inevitable. Upon Gibbins' retirement, the project became easy as some of the stories evolved while on travels around Australia.

Willem is the author's grandson and Booey the bear was a gift to Willem from his Auntie Cathee when he was born. In "Book 1: Melbourne Holiday," they go off on their first adventure together with the family. Mommy and Daddy take them on a plane to Melbourne where they visit the Melbourne aquarium, take a tram ride, go shopping in the market, and drop by the beach.

Fueled by the happiness of young children at play with their beloved toys as well as the happiness felt by grandparents while sitting with their grandchildren, "Adventures of Willem and Booey" is a book that builds healthy family relationships and an effective learning environment for children. "Enjoy and relish the time you have reading this to your children and grandchildren," encourages Gibbins.

The complete list of titles of the books in the series are as follows: "Book 1: Melbourne Holiday," "Book 2: A Caravan Trip," "Book 3: Carla the Cycad," and "Book 4: A Home for a Puppy." The first book in the series will be featured at the 2014 Bologna Children's Book Fair in Bologna, Italy, on March 24 - 27, 2014.
