Life is impossible to predict, but the heart might be an even bigger mystery. Both have the power to bring about unbridled joy, while at the same time, lead to crushing heartache and loss. Author Anita Gibbons pens a powerful love story, highlighting the unexpected places life and love take us in "Fragments of Life."
"Fragments of Life" is a fictionalized story that examines love, family and pain. Maggie Cameron leads a seemingly simple life in Vancouver, Canada with her family and publishing business. What the 30-year-old fails to reveal is the deterioration of her marriage and the pressure of being a mother to her young daughter. Everything changes when Carla Green fills out a job application to become her personal assistant.
Green soon becomes a regular fixture in Cameron's professional and personal life and the two discover a magnetic connection. As feelings build, they are hit with the news of Green's incurable cancer diagnosis.
Green's medical trouble and Cameron's family struggles lead the women to embark on a European adventure where sparks fly and feelings are revealed. With her new attraction to a woman, Cameron must decide if she will tell her daughter, Stephanie, and the rest of the world about her same-sex relationship.
"I wrote Fragments of Life as a tribute to the indomitable spirit of my long-term life partner as she struggled through her third bout of cancer," Gibbons said. "My own story, as well as my book, is a testament to the fact that a love between any two people can overcome and triumph over any obstacles in its path."
