The American Dream for most immigrants is certainly different than the success Dr. Robert Rey has achieved. Growing up in a poor neighborhood of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Dr. Rey immigrated to Utah and lived with a Mormon family when he was just twelve years old. He suffered prejudice, was discredited by all and yet he managed to graduate from top medical universities such as U.C.L.A. School of Medicine, Tufts University School of Medicine, and Harvard Medical School's Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital.
In his memoir, Dr. Robert Rey: The True Story of Dr. 90210 [May 1, 2017, Silver Books], Dr. Rey shares details of his dysfunctional childhood and abusive father, and his 'success secrets' of how he became a famous plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, CA. His natural entrepreneurial spirit and noteworthy ability to focus and excel has resulted in a multi-million dollar business, and has led him to become a published author, lecturer, medical broadcaster, actor, and martial artist. He is a current Screen Actors Guild member, and was a consultant on the Academy Award-nominated motion picture Seven.
