MIDDLETON, England
Author Angela Morrison's new memoir, "Secrets to Survival" (published by iUniverse), tells the story of a girl who overcame obstacles from her childhood into adulthood with pre- and post-apartheid South Africa as the background.
Set in South Africa, "Secrets to Survival" describes Morrison's childhood as a politician's daughter being raised in the time before and after the fall of apartheid rule. Morrison's father, a local mayor, was an advocate for the end of apartheid, and Morrison witnessed firsthand the divisiveness pain and violence of the country she loved over these issues.
More than a look at the life of a politician's family, Morrison candidly discusses the struggles of her personal life, including coming to forgive the man who molested her when she was 3 years old. As she matures, the hardships don't stop. Morrison reveals how she was able to cope with the loss of numerous family members, her business, her home and all she owned. For her, the struggle taught her perseverance, patience and compassion.
"I hope readers take away from my story renewed hope, encouragement and motivation to try one more time!" Morrison says. "It's never too late to begin again - believe it can happen if you never give up."
