Judi Piscitello first locked eyes on Charlie - a gifted musician, who had been blind his entire life - decades ago as he performed as the opening act for Blood, Sweat and Tears. Twenty years later, the two crossed paths at a church in Endicott, N.Y., and a year later, they were married. In her debut memoir, titled "My Most Wondermous Crepen," Piscitello tells the inspirational narrative of Charlie's life and death and documents their love story with each other and God.
"My Most Wondermous Crepen" tracks Charlie's journey from boyhood to musician to pastor and through his marriage with Piscitello. Using essays and letters written by Charlie throughout his life, Piscitello paints the picture of a life-long and passionate follower of Christ who far surpassed his so-called "disability" with his God-given abilities.
"Charlie was by far the most amazing, unforgettable character I have ever been blessed to meet," Piscitello said. "When Charlie went to be with the Lord, writing the book started out to be a grief work and tribute to all that God had done through him. The process of writing the book was also part of my search for God's purpose for my life."
The book also provides insight into Charlie's journey through blindness, emphasizing his role as an advocate for people with disabilities. Piscitello, who worked as an Assistant in the Training of Special Educators for the New York State Resource Center for Visually Impaired, highlights the critical shortages of professionals in the field of blindness and visual impairments and continues to further her advocacy efforts, making "My Most Wondermous Crepen" available in both auditory and braille formats.
Within the pages of "My Most Wondermous Crepen," readers will discover the mysterious meaning of the word "crepen" and find inspiration in the love, faith and legacy of Charlie Piscitello.
