Much of the biblical record, as what Pricely Francis believes, contravenes modern day concepts of morality, decency and civility. Francis thinks that ruling a society by biblical mores would jeopardize gains in gender relations, freedom of conscience and speech, human rights, personal autonomy and civilized behavior. Francis shines light on the unthinkable and politically incorrect things stated in the Bible in his book "My Bible Says the Darndest Things" (published by Trafford Publishing).
"My Bible Says the Darndest Things" speculates on the demise of modern day civilization and the progress mankind has made if it were to be ruled by the Bible (or any other ancient holy text) and religious people. This book's relevance is best illustrated by the push of religious people for religious freedom, which is only a push to marginalize and discriminate against 'sinners,' and dominate politically so they can turn their nations into a theocracy.
"This book sounds a warning to the secular segment of the society to be vigilant and act as a counter balance to religious domination," the author tells.
An excerpt from the book:
My friend encouraged - nay - challenged me to share the text with everyone in my friends list. But I did not. Instead I sent a return text. "I agree with much of what the pastor said.... But one nation under God? Which God? I don't want to live in any nation governed by God. A theocracy is repressive and harsh. No freedom of thought, expression and self-determination.

About the Author
Pricely Francis' grandmother, a Seventh-day Adventist, first took him to church when he was a toddler. He grew up in church, holding various leadership positions, until he discovered, quite by chance, that his preaching was good enough to make grown men cry and sedate worshippers 'get in the spirit.' He enrolled in the religion course at West Indies College in Jamaica (now renamed Northern Caribbean University). After four and a half years of study, Pricely served his church as a pastor in several parishes over nine years. He later migrated to Canada where he taught in a church run school, after which he pastored a church for two years. Francis resigned his pastoral commission after a traumatic divorce and has been providing multi-faith spiritual care for long term care and retirement residents since 2002. He has written the books "Advice to my Sons: Down-to-Earth, No-Nonsense Advice on Life From a Father to His Sons" and "Why I Love Money: A Brazen and Biting Rebuttal of the Belief That the Love of Money is Evil and Cannot Buy Anything of Real Value."
